Last updated: March 19, 2026
Carafe (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides menu-scanning and wine-pairing features through the Carafe mobile app and related services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
If you create an account, we collect information such as your name, email address, and authentication data necessary to sign you in and maintain your session. If a build offers optional social sign-in and you choose to use it, we may also receive the basic profile information provided by that identity provider.
Menu Photos And Scan Inputs
When you scan a restaurant menu or import menu photos, we process menu images and related file metadata to extract dishes, wines, prices, and pairing-relevant context.
Extracted And Edited Menu Data
We store the structured data created from your scans and any edits you make, including restaurant name, dishes, wines, pairing selections, and pairing results.
Preferences, Ratings, And Feedback
If you provide them, we store preference and feedback data such as taste preferences, dietary preferences, budget preferences, meal ratings, written notes, and feedback submissions.
Telemetry And Product Usage
We log limited product-usage events tied to your account and sessions, such as session creation, upload progress, extraction events, review-screen interactions, pairing events, and related timestamps.

4. Photos And Retention
Menu photos uploaded for scanning are intended to be temporary.
- By default, Carafe deletes menu photos after your session is processed.
- Structured session metadata such as extracted dishes, wines, pairings, ratings, and account-linked history may remain until you delete your account or the data is otherwise removed.
