Short definition
A wine that lacks body, flavor concentration, and texture, feeling watery on the palate.
Thin wines feel like they are missing something — the flavor starts and just stops. Unlike a deliberately light-bodied Vinho Verde or Beaujolais, which is bright and purposeful, a thin wine feels hollow and diluted. Overproduction (too many grapes per vine), a bad vintage, or excessive rain can produce thin wines. It is not fixable at the table.
