Tasting Menu

Pronunciation: TAY-sting MEN-yoo

Short definition

A multi-course meal of smaller dishes chosen by the chef, often offered with an optional wine pairing for each course.

A tasting menu is the chef's statement — five to twelve courses designed to tell a story. The wine pairing option adds a different pour for each course, selected by the sommelier to match each dish. It costs more but removes all decision-making and often includes wines you would never order on your own. The pairings are usually smaller pours, so the total volume equals about two to three full glasses.
