A wine with noticeable residual sugar remaining after fermentation.
Sweet wines keep some grape sugar that yeast did not convert to alcohol. Off-dry wines like Riesling Kabinett have just a hint, while Sauternes or Port taste like honeyed desserts. Good sweet wines balance their sugar with strong acidity so they do not feel cloying.
