Mis en Bouteille

Pronunciation: MEE ahn boo-TAY

Short definition

French label term meaning "bottled at," followed by the location — at the estate, the château, or a cooperative.

"Mis en bouteille au domaine" (bottled at the estate) means the grower made and bottled the wine. "Mis en bouteille au château" is the Bordeaux equivalent. "Mis en bouteille dans nos chais" (bottled in our cellars) is often used by négociants who bought finished wine. The distinction matters — estate bottling means one person's vision from grape to glass. Négociant bottling means someone else grew the grapes.
