Full-Bodied

Pronunciation: FULL-BAH-deed

Short definition

A wine that feels heavy and rich in your mouth, typically with higher alcohol and concentrated flavors.

Full-bodied wines feel like whole milk in your mouth — weighty and coating. Most have 13.5% alcohol or higher. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Malbec, and oaked Chardonnay are classic examples. Match them with equally rich food: braised meats, hard cheeses, or dishes with heavy sauces. A full-bodied red next to a delicate fish will steamroll it.
